On April 8, 2021, Easter Thursday, Claretian Communications Foundation, Inc. in partnership with the Association of Catholic Shrines and Pilgrimages in the Philippines, launched the book “The Role of Shrines in View of the New Evangelization: Pope Francis’ Theology on Shrines and Pilgrimages applied in the Philippine Context” by Bro. Kendrick Ivan B. Panganiban, M.A.Th., M.A.P.M. on various social media platforms.
The highlight of the book launch was the showing of the documentary, “Banal na Dambana” which showcased the value of shrines in our lives as Catholics and its importance as a tool for evangelization.
In his book, “The Role of Shrines in View of the New Evangelization,” the author shares that “Shrines are sacred places found all around the world as sites where God’s grace could be experienced by pilgrims who come from different places. Even in the modern age, these places are not only seen as venues for prayer and discernment, but also as centers for evangelization where the Church could truly be felt - a Church where devotion thrives and where mission is held in the shrine's pastoral programs.
In the book, he presents his research, which forms a reference to theology on shrines and pilgrimages as well as a pastoral manual on the development of shrine administration. This is inspired by Pope Francis’ instruction on developing shrines in the New Evangelization of the Church. It also presents a first-time comprehensive documentation of the many declared shrines in the Philippines.”
